Allan House

Allan House provides a high level of structured, person-centred support for adults aged 18+.  Accommodation provided is eight en-suited good sized bedrooms most on the ground floor. Allan House is set in two acres of grounds; this provides a great opportunity to enable residents to undertake a variety of sport activities and enjoy relaxing in the outdoor environment. Within the gardens we have an award winning allotment where we grow vegetables and then use them for meals, creating a healthy diet chosen by residents.

Residents also benefit from a large lounge area, pleasant dining room and training kitchen, all overlooking the stunning, large garden area. These facilities are used to help residents develop skills in many areas including cooking, good house-keeping and budgeting.

The GPs, health centre, convenience store, Tesco, pub, railway station, library, church and bus stops are all within walking distance from Allan House. Where appropriate, residents are supported to access work opportunities and college courses. Allan House has its own transport, although we encourage independent travel through training as appropriate.

Residents have the opportunity to get involved in many activities outside the home e.g. swimming, basketball, sailing and outdoor pursuits. Alongside this, residents can also help organise regular day trips and holidays.

Oaklea House

Oaklea House is a substantial detached property with nine bedrooms. All rooms are finished to a high standard of decor but residents are encouraged to have their own furniture and pictures if they desire. There is a large reception area, lounge and dining kitchen as well as an in house shop as requested by our residents where they can enjoy a tasty treat. Residents are supported to use the equipment in the kitchen with supervision.

The purpose of Oaklea is to enable service users to achieve their potential – socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically. All are encouraged to become involved in as many activities as possible to suit their liking or capability. Oaklea offers drama group, walks, music making, karaoke, singing and dancing, arts and crafts, outings, cooking and baking, picnics, shopping trips, meals out, swimming, TV and DVDs, and holidays.

The tranquil gardens offer several sitting areas ideal for barbecues and al-fresco dining. The summer house enables people to enjoy the garden all year round. Oaklea House is in an ideal location, situation close to local amenities, retail parks and Trentham Gardens. There is a frequent bus service for those who travel independently to town centres.

In order to further develop educational opportunities we have strong links withing Newcastle and Stoke-on-Trent colleges. These provide various courses, both educational and recreational – depending on the needs and choice of the individual.

Oaklea House is conveniently located for the Post Office, a good convenience store and the Village Hall is also within five minutes' walk. The bus service is good and the bus stops can be seen from Oaklea.
